Happy Birthday Jesus!!

Dear Jesus, today we celebrate Your Glorious Birth! You chose to come to this earth with such humble beginnings. Please always keep us mindful of what is truly humble and most important.
As we grow into adulthood our perceptions change from receiving gifts(as a child) to sharing more lasting gifts of faith, hope, and love. These are gifts I treasure, and want to pass on to our children.
We were given a suggestion to wrap Baby Jesus, and open our Present on Christmas Day. This will always keep us mindful of Who is truly the Gift of Christmas. Emma first gave Baby Jesus a block which is funny because we told her Jesus brought her the blocks. (Ok, so maybe not the best gift of choice, but she kept asking for them, and the night before in prayer she asked Jesus for blocks.) Madeline had to check out Baby Jesus, and of course she used her best, most reliable sense, taste.

Lazy Day

Today was the perfect day for a lazy "Banana Pancake" kinda day. There were no plans on the agenda so we just took it easy. It was so nice because I felt like we could really be "in the moment" as a family. The day started with Snuggle Saturday instead of Snuggle Sunday (a regular Dupuy ritual of early morning snuggling). I was able to hold Madeline (Taa Taa--Cajun talk) her much longer than on normal weekdays. Later in the day Emma fell asleep in the chair so I scooped her up, put her in our bed, and actually was able to take a nap with her. It was so nice.

After our nap we went outside, and Emma actually rode her tricycle for the first time by herself. I took a video, but please pardon the fact that it was taken sideways. If you know how to work hp and can help me turn it upright I would greatly appreciate it. But for now, if you are willing to break your neck for 4 seconds, or lay on your right side please watch....

ELMO!!!!

As you may have read last week Daddy got you girls tickets to go see Elmo. he had been listening all week to the radio station so he could try and win you girls tickets to go see Elmo. Emma, you have been excited ALL week to go see Elmo.

We had an extra ticket, and asked Didi to come with us to the show. We started with breakfast at Hub City, and then made our way to the Cajundome. We got in effortlessly, and found our seats in no time. Daddy got you girls some cotton candy as a treat, and you two LOVED it.

During the show Didi and mommy couldn't decide which entertained us more the show or watching your faces and Emma, you dance. Madeline, you kicked your feet because you were so happy most of the show. Emma, there was plenty of room for you to dance too.
We all had such a great time, and were thankful Didi came too.

Eggcellent Day

The first weekend in November, Abbeville has a Giant Omelette Celebration. In 1984, three members of the Chamber of Commerce (Emery "Bichon" Toups, Tracy Kays, and Sheri Meaux) attended the Easter Omelette Festival in Bessieres, France and were later knighted the first of Abbeville's Chevaliers. They returned home with the determination to bring Abbeville closer to its French Heritage by hosting an omelette festival and joining the sisterhood of cities who celebrate the omelette - Bessieres, France; Frejus, France; Dumbea, New Caledonia; and Granby, Quebec in Canada. Malmedy, Belgium and Pigue, Argentina later joined the fraternity, bringing the number making seven locations to celebrate this festival annually. Abbeville's Giant Omelette is truly an international festival. Each year, foreign representatives from each of these cities arrive here to be knighted as chevaliers (chefs) into Abbeville's Confrerie (fraternity). Beneath majestic moss-covered live oak trees in historic Magadalen Square, they help to prepare the 5000 egg Giant Cajun Omelette. They also come to experience the area's joie de vivre, to share its rich culture, to meet and mingle with its people, and to make memories and friendships which last a lifetime. The omelette is then given away freely to all in attendance.Come join in our Celebration and become closer to our French heritage through the cooking of the "Omelette of Friendship". (Okay, I didn't write this and you can read moe excerpts from the website: http://www.giantomelette.org/) .

We had a fun time with Didi, Nanny Wanda, Sandra, & Bozo. The day started off with a beautiful Mass. The weather was perfect for dancing, looking at the booths, antique cars, or tasting the delicious food.

Towards the end of the day the cooking of the Omelette begins. The chevaliers parade through town with Fathers Blanda and Chauvin, the Tabasco Girls, and of course the incredible, edible egg!
So what about this giant omelette.... It is cooked on a GIANT skillet! The festival started with 5,000 eggs in 1984, and each year they add another egg...so if you do the math, we are at 5,024! Wow that's big. Just to give you an idea of what it entails I included the recipe:

5024 Eggs, 50 lbs. Onions, 75 Bell Peppers, 4 Gallons Onion Tops, 2 Gallons Parsley, 1 1/2 Gallons Cooking Oil, 6 1/2 Gallons Milk, 52 lbs. Butter, 3 Boxes Salt, 2 Boxes Black Pepper, Crawfish Tails,Tabasco Pepper Sauce (to taste)

The Confrerie members gather to crack the eggs Pour eggs into 5 gallon buckets Add salt, pepper, milk & Tabasco pepper sauce® Blend with unique mixing tool (you will have to attend to know what this is) Set above ingredients aside Prepare skillet with oil and butter Add onions & bell pepper, sauté Add crawfish, sautéAdd egg ingredients to the ingredients in the skillet on command Stir gently and merrily to the beat of the Cajun music in the background Just prior to completion add parsley & onion tops Remove skillet from fire Serve with Poupart's French Bread - C'est Bon!Official Ingredients Preparer - Retired Sheriff Ray LeMaire

Not only did we have a fun family day, but we also got fed too:)!

Silly Saturday

Today was spent just doing fun silly things. We woke up with no definite plans, but decided to head to Lafayette. While running errands we heard the sounds of planes roaring overhead. Emma's vocabulary has blossomed lately. With plane being one of her favorite words, we decided to flock towards the air show. We parked our car near Adrian Vega's Dodge, and watched the Air Show. The girls absolutely loved it.

Next we decided to take them to the park, not just any park, the park where Poppie proposed to Didi. For all who do not know the story, Poppie proposed to Didi on a cement turtle. The girls really enjoyed being silly.

A Full of Fun Day

C2B2/ Boulevard take 2........

Thank you so much Didi for coming all the way from Lafayette to bring us early in the morning. We dropped off C2B2 off, much earlier this time. I'm sorry you had to come all this way, but we had a wonderful, adventurous day. As I was pulling out of the mechanics, Eric called to let us know he won 4 tickets to go see Elmo. For all who don't know, there are a few things that make Emma ga-ga 1-Cheer leading 2-dancing with the stars, 3-Dr. Pepper, & 4- ELMO & tookie monta. When I told her daddy won her tickets, her eyes got real big and she had a giant smile on her face!

We decided to celebrate with breakfast, Mc Donald's! Every time someone drove by in a SUV she kept looking for Aun Ciny & Elijie! It was so cute..we have to get together with you guys soon.

After breakfast, we went on a leisure drive. We really had so much fun just being together. On the way back from our drive I had gotten a call saying they had to order the part and it would be in tomorrow...so the saga continues.

We dropped the car at home, and went to play in the park. We all had fun. Emma had to try EVERYTHING out ( my little adventurer), and Madeline was so content having Didi push her in the swing. Emma even went on the BIG slide. I knew this day would come, but still I was a Mother Hen. She was so eager to do it by herself. The first time down was all it took...8 times later she ended up going backwards, forwards, and even sideways. Playing at the park warranted some hungry appetites, so we went to the Courtyard Cafe for lunch. After lunch, Didi unfortunately headed home. Thank you Didi for not only helping us, but providing us with a very special day!

With Abbeville High's homecoming this weekend, Abbeville moved their trick-or-treating to today. We celebrate halloween in the Square. Abbeville puts on something called Scare in the Square. They block off the square, have story-telling, costume contests, and several businesses hand candy out to the children. It's very nice and safe for the childen. The girls had a great time tick teeting!

Thank You Maw Maw

This week our car (chitty chitty bang bang) had a bo-bo and had to be brought in to be bandaged. Maw Maw was very thoughtful to wake up early, and meet us at Boulevard's (our mechanic). Well he is the most popular mechanic in town, and if you don't have your car in by around 7am you can virtually forget it. Well once the girls woke up and we got going it was 9am. We met maw maw and when we got there it was PACKED, so C2B2 would have to wait till tomorrow. We decided to spend the day with Maw Maw, instead, which was all worth it.

Later that night she made some of her yummy soup. The girls got to spend time with Maw Maw, Paw Paw, Nanny Chelle, Aunt Nicole, Parrain Scott and Brylie. The girls had SO much fun, and played unbelievably well together. We all had a wonderful time.

Welcome HOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMee

I had to post this picture because it looked like Madeline was singing a musical. We sat outside for a little while to welcome Daddy home.
